User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 Build ID: 20120907231657 Steps to reproduce: lockPref("xpinstall.enabled", false); in global firefox. Checked various users and it is "false Actual results: When I try to install, for example "InstantFox Quick Search, I get the message notification that system administration has locked installation. When installing "Better Gmail 2 1.2" it installed. Expected results: As others... not allow for installation.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:18.0) Gecko/18.0 Firefox/18.0 - 10/01 I locked the xpinstall.enabled pref as false, then I tried to install several extensions from local folders, from addons.mozilla.org, and from the Addons Manager. No extensions from the local folders or addons.mozilla.org got installed. I could install extensions directly from the Addons Manager though (e.g. InstantFox Quick Search - I couldn't install it from addons.mozilla.org, but it got installed when trying directly from the Addons Manager).
