If I launch gallery on a freshly booted otoro, and then switch back and forth between the gallery app and the homescreen, one of these things seems to happen:

1) gallery crashes
2) homescreen restarts
3) all of the above
4) sometimes the homescreen just seems to get into a confused state where I can no longer swipe side to side.

I don't think this is a gallery bug. I suspect OOM, but have not investigated memory usage while doing the switching. My guess would be that it is the window manager using up memory.

Changing useScreenshotInSprite to false in window_manager.js seems to make the crash less common. But if I keep switching back and forth, I do get the crash. And once crashes start happening, they seem to happen more and more frequently. This is still anecdotal. I don't feel like I've got hard data here...

I can reproduce the same thing with CrystalSkull and Music, but not with Settings or Contacts.

So maybe apps that display images are using up memory in a way that apps that don't display images are not?

Feels like a gecko bug. cc'ing @cgjones.

related to #5350?
Is recent? Coincide with e.me landing?

It might have coincided. I've kind of been ignoring e.me, so I'm not sure.

Do i need to have pictures in my gallery app in order to reproduce?
I don't see a crash.
