[GitHub issue by vingtetun on 2012-07-06T17:55:29Z, https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/gaia/issues/2235] This needs some love in b2g/chrome/content/setttings.js to map some settings and some UI love.
[GitHub comment by philikon on 2012-07-07T07:43:24Z] I believe @jaoo was planning on working on that in the context of 3G data connections. Perhaps we can make the feature work in a general way, so that it would also work for Wifi connections.
[GitHub comment by jaoo on 2012-07-09T06:42:26Z] Let me figure out how to deal with proxy support for data calls and perhaps we can do it extensible also for WiFi later. HTTP proxy support work is being tracked on bug 740640.
[GitHub comment by nhirata on 2012-07-30T17:11:46Z] Noming, not sure if this should block v1 or not.
[GitHub comment by jaoo on 2012-07-31T08:21:07Z] Bug 740640 is being reviewed and PR 2898 adds proxy support for 3G.
[GitHub comment by vingtetun on 2012-07-31T15:17:43Z] I don't see proxy configuration in the Settings specification from the wiki. So except if product decide this is a requirement I don't think this should block.
[GitHub comment by philikon on 2012-07-31T17:22:19Z] It's very much a technical requirement. Whether or not UX has planned for it or not is kind of irrelevant, sorry.
[GitHub comment by beatrizrodriguez on 2012-09-18T10:16:50Z] I also agree this is a very important requirement, many operators are using proxy for at least two main reasons: - Content adjustment, this is to offer content adapted for mobile phones. - Content billing, all the contents, ringtones and so on, sold by operator wap portals are properly billed thanks to the proxy. All the devices sold by those operators should include the proxy settings, otherwise the content billing is not done. I hope it clarifies the importance of support for this proxy.

We now have “HTTP proxy host/port” settings for Data and A-GPS connections. If we need an HTTP proxy for the wi-fi connection, please file a specific bug.
