[GitHub issue by autonome on 2012-09-28T18:03:46Z, https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/gaia/issues/5437]
[GitHub comment by autonome on 2012-09-28T18:36:00Z] bugzilla bug in case it's a platform issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=795415
[GitHub comment by dylano on 2012-09-28T21:38:58Z] I was able to get AT&T data after all with the 9/28 build. @cleemoz showed me that I needed to go into Cellular | APN settings and select MediaNet to get it going.
[GitHub comment by nhirata on 2012-09-28T22:31:57Z] Firmware 9 + 2012-09-26 ics us seems to work. Firmware 9 + 2012-09-27 ics us does not seem to work. Seems like there's a break between 26th and 27th build with Firmware 9? This is with T-Mobile.
[GitHub comment by cleemoz on 2012-09-28T23:46:57Z] I'm on 2012-09-28 build commit: dbe752. AT&T data works for me.
[GitHub comment by nhirata on 2012-10-01T20:12:54Z] I see the media net option now in the Cellular & Data section. Go to Settings -> Cellular & Data -> APN Settings and select media net. Once you do that you won't see it any more. I think the UI is busted. default should be media net? And the option shouldn't disappear. I think it might be a gaia side bug.
[GitHub comment by autonome on 2012-10-01T21:19:46Z] @fabi1cazenave who wrote the mobile data configuration screen?
[GitHub comment by fabi1cazenave on 2012-10-01T21:40:03Z] I did. :-(

Would be really nice to know what change regressed this.

The data connection toggle is not updated to true when Settings app is launched. However, it does responsible to toggle in Quick Settings. Other than that I don't see there is a problem with the UI.

Setting this to critical. The out-of-the-box experience for dogfooding should just work, and this regression makes mobile data require UI and APN manual configuration that was not required before this happened.
Severity: normal → critical

I can verify mobile data on my Otoro works (kernelupdate9 + lastest Gecko/Gaia) with Chungwha Telecom SIM. The only confusion is what I mentioned on comment 9, where the mobile data toggle in Settings app is not set to true when the app launches. I can fix that in this bug.

(In reply to Tim Guan-tin Chien [:timdream] (MoCo-TPE) from comment #11) > I can verify mobile data on my Otoro works (kernelupdate9 + lastest > Gecko/Gaia) with Chungwha Telecom SIM. > > The only confusion is what I mentioned on comment 9, where the mobile data > toggle in Settings app is not set to true when the app launches. I can fix > that in this bug. Hum, that only happen on my phone, and went away when I reflash it. So it's not the cause. We do set the default value of |ril.data.enabled| to false currently though, do we want to switch it on so data will work out of box? That's the scope of bug 792879. De-assign myself since I couldn't find a valid STR. At least in Taiwan. Mark this as duplicate of bug 795415 coz from comment 1 it looks like these two bugs are filed as duplicate.
