I'm using Thunderbird with GMail. Whenever a new message arrives in the inbox, if the message is not part of an existing thread and I switch to All Mail, the message will appear threaded under the newest thread.

They sometimes also appear threaded incorrectly in inbox too but I don't remember whether the inbox had focus when that happened.

In case it's relevant, I have "Auto-Expunge off" and "Immediately delete the message forever" set in my GMail IMAP preferences to work around another bug where GMail was ignoring my attempts to delete messages via Thunderbird. (It means I have to manually delete them from both the inbox and all mail, but it works)
Oh, the end result is basically the same as screenshotted in attachment 427294 [details] on bug 546607.
Hmm. Actually, I think another prerequisite for this bug is for the most recent entry in All Mail to be a thread.
Stephan, are you still seeing this?

Yep. Saw it mis-threading e-mails in All Mail just a couple of days ago on Thunderbird 16.0.1.

by newest thread, you mean the topmost thread? (you have sorted by descending date+time?)
Flags: needinfo?(from_bugzilla2)
Yes. I have it sorted descending on the "Date" column.

(Because of another bug that may be GMail's fault where, after deleting something from Inbox, I have to also go and delete it in All Mail to actually have it deleted.)

Wait... how is descending defined for dates again? I think I might have gotten that mixed up.

To be unambiguous, newest at the top and oldest at the bottom.

Do you use the All Mail folder a lot?

Flags: needinfo?(from_bugzilla2)

I'm not sure what qualifies as "a lot".

Probably at least once a week but I don't really think about it.

Thanks for the previous update.

How is it now with version 115?
