Compared to Netscape 4, less folders can be displayed. With Netscape 4 I have 56 folders, and with Mozilla 48 (this is with a maximized window, resolution 1400x1050). The size of the font appears to be the same in both cases and the icons, although different, don't seem to take that more space in Mozilla. The bottom line is that there seems to be a waste of screen estate here.

do you have the side bar open in mail?
screen-estate bugs that should level this situation somewhat: bug 22056 and recently resolved bug 43797

No, the sidebar is completely closed. There is just a little more space between every folder with Mozilla. I would send a screenshot comparing the two browsers but some folders have people and company names...

This can easily be justified with some CSS fu. However, the current row height for this tree is ideal. If we make them smaller, the icons will overlap and it will look weird, trust me. Recommend wontfix.

I added two attachments with the same folders. If the icons are too big, well, they can be made smaller, like the Netscape 4 icons. In my daily use of Mozilla I couldn't care less about the height of the icons, but I do care about seeing as many folders as reasonably possible.

This is very trivial. We are talking like a pixel higher in the Mozilla version.

Trivial indeed. But this means that I have to scroll to see the 8 folders that I could see with Netscape and don't see anymore with Mozilla ;-)

This might improve/get worse once we land the folder_outliner branch (whever that happens!). I'll promise to look at this issue before we land that. In the meantime downgrading this to trivial... Raise the severity if it's not better after the landing.
Severity: normal → trivial
Folder outliner landed, isn't this okay now?

No, I see the same number of folders, so my complaint holds ;-)

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago. Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED. If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
