Steps to Reproduce:
1.klick on Icon
2.harddisk starts working
3.splash screen appeared
4.Harddisk is working for another 30 sec (appr.)
5.Windows message box appeared that there is a fault (faults are in module 
"unknown", "kernel32.dll" and "msvcrt.dll")
6.After closing the program, "mozilla" remains in memory

1. My OS is German Windows 95 C with no IE4 installed.
2. fault report with "unknown"
The program 'MOZILLA.EXE' caused the error: Access violation.  

MOZILLA.EXE caused fault #c0000005 in (Unknown) at address 014f:013b86b3

To date, 2 fatal errors have been recorded in this program.  This particular 
error was recorded 2 times.

Reporter try downloading 0.9 and creating a new profile. see if that fixes the
problem.

I have the exact same bug, under both 0.8.1 and 0.9.  Tried uninstalling 
mozilla and reinstalling.  Tried removing c:\program 
files\netscape\communicator\users50.  Tried using the talkback build.  Tried 
repeating above steps and running mozilla.exe -installer.  Tried purging all 
references to mozilla from the registry and reinstalling.  Nothing works, 
mozilla splashes then crashes as described by phartman.

Deleted the directories mfcembed and mozilla from c:\windows\application data,
then reinstalled.  Works.  Previous versions of Mozilla (0.7 seamonkey or 0.8)
must have used c:\program files\netscape yada yada for profiles, which caused my
confusion.

So what's a permanent solution for this?  Is there some technical difficulty in
cleaning up pre-existing mozilla profiles on a new version install?

There are other bugs open for dealing with corrupt profiles.
