Hi design team. :)
Per a convo with Sean, we'd like to have a Firefox desktop wallpaper to give our users as a holiday "gift" on social and email. (Now that I'm thinking about it, a mobile wallpaper would be nice, too.)
It can be a wallpaper we already have, or you can design something new. Just so we have somewhere to link (the repository)
Can we have it before Nov. 14, as we'll start writing the Dec. email content around that time.
Gracias!

Thanks Carmen. We do have a bunch of past graphics that we could package up and use here...would that be helpful, or do you need something explicitly new and holiday themed?
Also, can you advise on what desktop wallpaper size(s) we should use?
past graphics - as long as they are good with you guys, are good with me. :) I don't think they need to be holiday themed. Just something cool that people would appreciate. :) (I have the keep calm and browse on one installed on my computer, which I love.)
Sizes - Would you all have some guidance there? I was under the impression that we had one file that someone would set to their specs, but looks like I'm wrong. :)

Yeah, the tricky part is that with there being such a wide range of display resolutions out there (ex. http://www.memphisphotographyservice.com/ic/2011/08/27/standard-and-average-monitor-sizes-wallpaper-sizes-desktop-background-sizes/) it's hard to come up with a single file that will look good on all (or most) of them.
Are other orgs posting wallpapers on Facebook? Would be great to collect a few examples of that so we can follow their leads.
William found this example - does it help? (We would post the mobile size on Facebook as the image, and link to the repository, where they would chose the size they'd like.)

Pinging in the bug. Ping!
I'd like to include this "gift" in our December newsletter, the outline of which is being finished this week.
Can I count on having something there so I can include it? Nov. 14 was the original due date, but checking in.
Thanks!

Hey Carmen. Thanks for the ping, and sorry about the slow reply. As you've probably guessed, getting this done by the 14th is going to be tough.
Can we get an extension?
Hi John,
If you can tell me that we can go ahead and include it in our email/social plans, I'm okay extending the date.
How about Dec. 1? That would probably be our drop dead to get everything ready.

Assigning this to Lee. (Thanks Lee)
Carmen, is there any particular wallpaper topic or theme we should consider? Holiday themed, product themed, etc? Would be great to use or start from one of our existing set if possible, but I'd like to hear your directional thoughts first.

I just created 36 new Firefox wallpaper graphics. The design is based on our Sandstone style texture with Firefox logo.
- 9 different aspect ratios for various screen sizes
- 4 different colors (blue, red, grey and orange)
John, all of these are in our DropBox folder. What would be next steps in order to get them onto our assets repository?

A good next step would be to post some samples for Carmen to review...then we can figure out where to put 'em after that.
Thanks!

Basically, they all look like this and built for 9 different screen-sizes. Attaching the portrait versions for iphone 960x640 here.

Sorry that I missed your first question, John. But these look a.o.k. to me. :)
Can we upload them to the asset repository now, so we have a link to send folks to? Or is there another step?
Thanks all. :)

Thanks Lee - awesome sauce
Could you cut the red one for me into a 300x150 so I can promote in the email? And a 403x403 for Facebook?
Gracias.

Hey Lee,
Will the iPhone wallpaper work for Android phones, too? Do we need to have an _Androidphone and _Androidtablet version? (since we're on Android, and all.) :) Or, maybe we can rename them to say "phone" and "tablet" instead of iphone?

Hey Carmen. Good points...
Those wallpapers will work for Android phones as well as iPhone. I'm going to rename the files - probably similar to the desktop versions, where we just denote the screen size.

There's no wallpapers for my resolution, 1366x768, which according to Statcounter (http://gs.statcounter.com/#resolution-ww-monthly-201112-201211-bar) is 20% of recently used displays. Similarly there's none for 1024x768 (18%), 1280x1024 (7%), or 1600x900 (4%).
On the other hand, there's wallpapers in 1680x1050 resolution, which Statcounter says accounts for 4% of views.
I don't think scaling or cropping produces as nice an image, so could you produce wallpapers in those 4 resolutions? (1366x768, 1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x900)
