Steps to reproduce:
I created subfolders and rules for ebay mails.
Actual results:
New mails in subfolders are not added to the tiny number of new mails in the dock.
Expected results:
It should have be updated correctly.

That is by design, you can include sub-folders by changing the preference "mail.notification.count.inbox_only" to false via about:config.

UI for that pref is bug 957672.
