Acer TravelMate 5742G windows 7 x64 firefox 15.0.1 flash 11.4.402.265 (hardware acceleration is on) I opened firefox in safe mode and disabled all non flash plugins. I have opened two youtube videos. To be precise (probably doesn't matter) it was "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZkp7q19f0&feature=g-music" and "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vbqXlMWKwU&feature=plcp". Both videos started to play immediately. Then I switched to first one and stopped it. The second one I kept playing. Then I started to do a simple moves with mouse on video slider (second playing video) from left to right and right to left, over and over. Flash player on youtube is showing video preview during this moves right at the possition of mouse cursor. The problem is that this preview starts to lag behind the mouse after a while. if not, you can switch to the second video and then back on playing one, then just repeat the mouse moves. The longer you move your mouse the more "preview lag behind" you can see. Then you can try to switch to another tab, open menu or do something in firefox, but you see that the whole firefox is freezed, because it is waiting to finish that youtube video preview, but it is still lagging behind, trying to finish all that mouse moves you have made previously. The best case would be to have no lag at all. I have checked google chrome and preview never starts to lag bedind the mouse moves more than a few milliseconds... Major problem is also that this completely freezes the whole browser. You cannot even click on menu or another tab. I hope you can reproduce that problem easily. Thx. Sincerely Petr Pospíšil

More reproducibility info. It is happening to me even with only one video opened. Also I don't even need to move mouse in video slider. I can just do circles on top of video window. Whole firefox freezes.

I can definitely see some firefox.exe and FlashPlayerPlugin_11_4_402_265.exe CPU consumption build up. Playing video: ff ~2%, fp1 ~0%, fp2 ~3%, freeze: ff ~10%, pf1 ~10%, fp2 ~5%. Definitely not 100% consumption, but that could be affinity related (100/4 = 25% and 10+10+5=25%).
Try with protected mode disabled in Flash 11.4: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 (see chapter "last resort")

Hi, I have disabled protected mode and there was no lag at all. I could still see cpu build up in plugincontainer.exe (video playing: ~5%, mouse moving: ~14-20), but no slowdown. I have tried to open about 20 videos playing (~20%) while mouse moving at one of them (35% - more than 25%?), but no lag at all. I have also tried running CPU burner with normal priority and there was also no slowdown. But once I have enabled protected mode again, it started to lag a lot again. I have also tried two another computers at work. My co-workers personal notebook was also showing mouse move lags (but not bad as mine). My PC at work wasn't showing any lags at all. Although I have not checked CPU usage.

I am able to use VS2010 ultimate profiler. Is there a way to get FF .pdb symbols for my version and build? Without symbols I can only guess: firefox.exe first test modules with mouse move lag: Name,Inclusive Samples,Exclusive Samples,Inclusive Samples %,Exclusive Samples %, "d2d1.dll",13,11,"2,23","1,89", "d3d10_1core.dll",13,6,"2,23","1,03", "dxgi.dll",6,2,"1,03","0,34", "firefox.exe",241,0,"41,34","0,00", "freebl3.dll",1,1,"0,17","0,17", "gkmedias.dll",9,5,"1,54","0,86", "kernel32.dll",6,3,"1,03","0,51", "KERNELBASE.dll",11,11,"1,89","1,89", "mozalloc.dll",3,2,"0,51","0,34", "mozglue.dll",10,10,"1,72","1,72", "mozjs.dll",74,62,"12,69","10,63", "mozsqlite3.dll",125,99,"21,44","16,98", "MSCTF.dll",6,2,"1,03","0,34", "MSVCP100.dll",1,1,"0,17","0,17", "MSVCR100.dll",341,6,"58,49","1,03", "msvcrt.dll",1,0,"0,17","0,00", "mswsock.dll",5,2,"0,86","0,34", "nspr4.dll",68,24,"11,66","4,12", "ntdll.dll",83,82,"14,24","14,07", "nvwgf2um.dll",16,13,"2,74","2,23", "plc4.dll",1,1,"0,17","0,17", "ssl3.dll",6,4,"1,03","0,69", "UNKNOWN",577,0,"98,97","0,00", "USER32.dll",29,17,"4,97","2,92", "UxTheme.dll",1,0,"0,17","0,00", "WS2_32.dll",7,1,"1,20","0,17", "WSOCK32.dll",1,0,"0,17","0,00", "xul.dll",443,218,"75,99","37,39", second test modules without mouse moving: Name,Inclusive Samples,Exclusive Samples,Inclusive Samples %,Exclusive Samples %, "d2d1.dll",70,61,"16,99","14,81", "d3d10.dll",1,0,"0,24","0,00", "d3d10_1core.dll",38,15,"9,22","3,64", "dwrite.dll",2,2,"0,49","0,49", "dxgi.dll",33,7,"8,01","1,70", "firefox.exe",366,0,"88,83","0,00", "freebl3.dll",3,3,"0,73","0,73", "gkmedias.dll",38,14,"9,22","3,40", "kernel32.dll",8,6,"1,94","1,46", "KERNELBASE.dll",8,5,"1,94","1,21", "mozalloc.dll",1,1,"0,24","0,24", "mozglue.dll",23,20,"5,58","4,85", "mozjs.dll",69,59,"16,75","14,32", "mozsqlite3.dll",1,1,"0,24","0,24", "MSCTF.dll",1,1,"0,24","0,24", "MSVCR100.dll",45,6,"10,92","1,46", "msvcrt.dll",5,4,"1,21","0,97", "mswsock.dll",1,1,"0,24","0,24", "nspr4.dll",27,10,"6,55","2,43", "ntdll.dll",22,21,"5,34","5,10", "nvwgf2um.dll",41,38,"9,95","9,22", "softokn3.dll",1,0,"0,24","0,00", "UNKNOWN",406,0,"98,54","0,00", "USER32.dll",9,5,"2,18","1,21", "UxTheme.dll",1,1,"0,24","0,24", "WINMM.dll",1,0,"0,24","0,00", "WS2_32.dll",3,0,"0,73","0,00", "WSOCK32.dll",1,0,"0,24","0,00", "xul.dll",199,131,"48,30","31,80",

(In reply to Petr Pospíšil from comment #7) > I am able to use VS2010 ultimate profiler. Is there a way to get FF .pdb > symbols for my version and build? The easiest way for a release build is to use the symbol server: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Using_the_Mozilla_symbol_server
Flash is no longer supported.
