Persona is a service than can be used in any browsers whatever the OS, so all OSes should be selectable.
Persona is currently a separate product. If Persona articles have browser specific things, I think they should also be assigned to Firefox and/or Firefox for Mobile.

In that case, they will lose the Persona logo.

That's a good point. We'd have to make sure any article that applies to Persona product shows the Persona product + logo. But persona applies to all browsers, not only Firefox. Why do we have browser specific instructions in there?

We don't have any specific OS version instructions in those articles.

For the record, Firefox Sync articles display the four OSes but can't have {for android} and {for win, mac, linux} inside as it's not allowed. It's why there are https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-turn-do-not-track-feature and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-turn-do-not-track-feature-mobile

Okay, so as far as I can tell, this is a rather cosmetic issue? Changing the dropdown to Android won't change anything, right?

This is the same issue as adding Android to Firefox Sync articles in bug 796926. Selecting it won't change the content of the article but if a user on mobile doesn't see Android for Persona articles, he might think that this service is specific to desktop.
2012Q4 is in the past. Moving on to the future!
