For this index page linked here, Netscape 4.7 places each definition on a new
line, whereas all versions of Mozilla that I have seen for both Windows and
Linux (including build 2001050914) do not produce these line breaks.  I don't
know under what other conditions this occurs for.

The problem is with unclosed <A> tag right before the <pre>, see the testcase
attached.

End tags are required for <a> element. See:
