Steps to reproduce:

Open Firefox 15.0.1 with only one empty tab. Click on the empty area of the page, to make address bar loose its focus. Put the cursor over the address bar.


Actual results:

A strange element near that tab (on the tabs-panel) appeared. Probably that should be a hint-element.


Expected results:

A hint with text should appear, or nothing should appear at all.

Please, try the basic troubleshooting steps:

1) Safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

2) New profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Does it fix your issue?

Hi Loic, I tried both steps that you recommended. Neither safe mode not new profile does not fix the issue.
I reproduced same bug on other computer (Win 7) with Firefox 14 installed, so it is probably a small bug in UI.

Have you tried to upgrade to the most recent Firefox version? (currently 16, 17 next week)

Can you also try a En-US build?

That's not such a small bug, if everybody would see that, we would certainly have a good number of reports around this (which is not the case). So I assume there must be something specific to your system.

Hi Virgil Dicu, I reprodused this bug both in 16 and 17 versions on different machines (and on RU and EN builds). Aslo I noticed that no matter how many tabs are opened - you need just to open a new tab, click on white page, and move cursor over the adress bar. See attachment file moz_bug_2.png
I think that this strange element is a hint (tooltip), but it has no text for some reasons.

Can't reproduce on Windows 7 - Firefox Nightly. Tabs on top or tabs on Bottom.

Ok, I am just a user that wanted to help. This issue is cosmetical, so minor. If there will be more reports like this I belive you will pay attantion and fix it.
