Hi team,
We asked our Firefox users why they love Firefox. We'd like to turn their responses into graphics for our Facebook page that users can then share back out to their friends.
Because our Firefox OS goals for Q4 are aimed at growing engagement in Brazil and LATAM to prepare for launch, we'd like to do these in 3 languages. EN, ES, PT.
The graphic can be a photo (I have a bunch, if we want to go this way we can pick something out.) It can be a logo with words around it. Or whatever you'd like to do. Example, we have a photo of the fox costume that looks like he's running, which would be good for the 'fast' one.)
Size 403x403 for optimum Facebook experience.
EN: 2 graphics to be spaced through end of the year
1) Facebook status post: Nothing like personal recommendations to help you chose a browser!
Graphic would feature these responses.
"Luv it" Chi Ike ~ Nigeria
"I love it" Ari D'gembelz Gsm Centre ~ Indonesia
"No other browser compares" Vicky Rb ~ India
"Firefox is easily the superior browser {it} will always be my favorite" Ric Bolty Hooves ~ IL, USA
2) Facebook post: Facebook fan Bader Senussi Z thinks that "Words cannot describe the awesomeness of Firefox." We thought we'd help him out with some of the words YOU used.
Graphic:
"people over profits" Chris Gibson ~ TX, USA
"It's the fastest" Cassidy Jane ~ NY, USA
It's practical, reliable, safe, fast, performing, customizable, cool, modern" Jakan Dupras ~ Quebec, Canada
"It's the best" Beverly Baker ~ Washington, USA
ES - 3 graphics to space through end of the year
1. The post on Facebook will be: ¿Tus amigos utilizan Firefox? Comparte este mensaje y ¡hazles saber por
qué deberían hacerlo! (Are your friends on Firefox? Share this so they'll know why they should be!)
The graphic would feature these responses:
"¡Mozilla Firefox es insuperable!" Tenia Coração de Capivara ~ Santa Fe, Argentina
"me gusta su diseño y es rápido." Luis Ricardo Alvarez ~ Rosario, Santa Fe
"está espectacular" Ricardo Gurí Cisneros ~Tucumán
"simplemente es GENIAL!!!" Miguel Báez Rodríguez ~Costa Rica
" el mejor navegador inventado :) " Leandro Matias Reategui Gonzalez ~ Buenos Aires, Argentina
(Facebook fan Chiro Oshiro from Bueons Aires says Firefox is different than the others. Find out why.)
Graphic:
"es abierto y defiende la libertad en Internet " Yunier José Sosa Vázquez ~ Cuba
"es multiplataforma, rápido, seguro y lo mejor de todoooo es open source !!!" Carlos Avila Gil ~ Spain
"menos riesgoso y mas rapido" Javier EC ~ San Luis Potosi
"Es muy seguro, versátil y fácil de usar" Carlos Arias Londoño ~ Medellín, Antioquia
3. FAcebook post: Todos los navegadores dicen que son rápidos. Pero no solo nosotros lo decimos. (Every browser says it's fast. But don't take our word for it.)
Graphic:
"me gusta su velocidad" Paco Arvizu Rodriguez ~ CA, USA
"es mas rapido" Freddy Alexander Cohen Arbelaez ~ Cartagena, Bolivar
"es seguro y muy rapido" Normamery Jara ~ Cipolleti, Rio Negro, Argentina
"Es la combinacion mejor balanceada entre estabilidad y rapidez" Cris Fuentes ~ Quilpué, Chile
PT
2 graphics to use through Q4
1. Translations for Facebook post TK: Are your friends on Firefox? Share this and let them know why they should be!
Graphic:
"Porque é Excelente" Miguel Freire ~ São Paulo, Brazil
" Eh simplesmente o melhor dos melhores. Não tem igual" Evandro Vandinho Bhallacka Bbc ~ Recife, Brazil
"porque é seguro" Brian Guimarães ~ São Paulo, Brazil
"Porque é flexível e atende a todas as minhas necessidades." Andrew Rebouças ~ Manaus, Amazonas
2. Post: Every browser says it is fast. But don't take our word for it.
Graphic:
"Mais rapido" Izabel Mirandella ~ Rio
"ele é rapido e fasil de usar " Guilherme Silvestre ~ Santo André, Brazil
"é mais rápido e não falha como os outros." Fernando Pozebom ~ São Vicente, Brazil
We'd like to start using these in November. Can we set an Oct. 31 deadline?

Hi Carmen, thanks for filing. Can you please help clarify the following:
* How many different graphics are we actually producing (not counting the localized versions) ? I'm a little unclear right now as to how many unique graphics we need to produce, and how many total (including the localized versions).
* How many responses are you expecting to have per graphic?
* There is a lot of text, it seems, per graphic... so I'd avoid pushing a photograph in there so there's more space for the copy. What I might suggest instead is leaning on something like colors or ambient imagery vs. anything too heavy. Logo is fine too, perhaps an artful crop of it.
--------
Matt, I'm hoping you can take this one.

There are two different graphics for EN, three each for ES & PT (but they are similar in that they are the same questions, different language.)

I was thinking 3-4, but open to suggestions.

Sounds good to me.

Just checking in...Matt, everything on track?
Hi guys,
I've put some time aside to getting these banners finished up. I do have a question though regarding the various quotations. English FB status post for example has 4 different quotes, would all 4 quotes be appearing on a single graphic background? Or would I design it to have one quote on a single common background for each of the 4 quotes?
I think that is my only area of confusion, other than that I'm hoping to have some examples to show shortly.
Thanks,
Matt
Here's how we envisioned it.
So on Facebook, when you post a graphic, you can also post text in the status update to accompany that graphic. Using EN as an example, the status post would be:
Nothing like personal recommendations to help you chose a browser!
The four responses would appear within the graphic itself. So yes, one single 403x403 graphic.
Does that help explain? I can jump on a call if you need me to.
Hi, I've attached a couple of examples of what a banner may look like. The challenge is to get the 4 quotes on in some manner...I've gone with the speech bubble look to contain each. Another possible option could be to split the 4 quotes into 2 banners with the same background, if you feel that the 4 quotes is too heavy looking.
Please let me know how you feel about this direction. I think with the various textures and ambient backgrounds in the mozilla creative library there could be potential to bring this speech bubble look into many environments.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks Matt. I like this approach, and it looks good with the quotes used here. My only concern is that if the quotes are longer than, say "Luv it", things could feel very busy/heavy pretty quickly.
Carmen, is there a way we can mitigate that?

Hey John,
Let me understand - are you asking if we can cut the quotes down? I can do that easily for the EN version, but I'd have to ask the localizers for help with the other languages, which for timing would take another week or so.
Though I was thinking that the four quotes with the different sized text looked like a word cloud, and kind of liked it. :)
We could also take one quote out, and make it only 3 (that would be the easiest.)

Here's an example with 3 speech bubbles...I think it gives things some breathing room, and 3 is always nicer visually than 4. Also that gives a bit more room if went to add the Firefox logo in.

Not so much cut the quotes down, but ensure that whatever quotes we do end up using don't fill up the space so much that it all feels cluttered. I think Matt's 3 quote option in comment #12 would help with that.
(Matt, as an additional note, we're in the process of dropping the Mozilla from the Firefox wordmark. Details at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefox/wordmarks/.)

The 3-quote option works for me - I don't have to go back to the localizers. :)

Hi guys, I've attached 7 examples of what the various banners would look like using the speech bubble along with a variety of different coloured backgrounds utilizing the Firefox brand. Please let me know what you think of these!
Thanks,
Matt

I like version 2 - it will really stand out in the white-ness of Facebook.

Sorry I'm late here, but could we remove the vertical lines in the backgrounds? That's the old look prior to finalized Sandstone.
No biggie if not, just want to align closer to the guide if we can.

Hi Matt,
Sorry for the last minute here - but we have one of these scheduled for tomorrow, and I see that there's been a comment to remove the vertical lines. Is that something you could do real quick? We can push that post out a day to give you time.
Please advise ASAP

Hi Carmen,
That's not a problem for me to remove the vertical lines...I can post the newest version shortly! I've been handing over as jpgs so far, would you like me to package up the PSDs as well?
Cheers,
Matt

I've attached 2 that I think were the only ones that had the lines on them previously. Please let me know if these ones will work.
