User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en; rv:1.9.2.28) Gecko/20120308 Camino/2.1.2 (like Firefox/3.6.28) Build ID: 20120308211433 Steps to reproduce: Went to the AirBnB website to book a room. Dropdown menu does not show (shows OK in Safari and Chrome) Went to ebay.com, did a search and tried to save the search. Link to save search does not show up in Camino but does show in Firefox, Safari and Chrome Actual results: Some parts of a webpage don't show up when using Camino but they do show when using other browsers (Firefox, Safari and Chrome) Camino version used is 2.1.2 which should be the latest. Also used the latest version of the other browsers Expected results: All of the webpage should show. More detailed discussion in forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2565017&p=12362825#p12362825 Attached file is the search result with Camino (on left) and the identical page rendered with Firefox on right. Firefox page was loaded by copying and pasting the URL from Camino into FF, not by doing the search again.
I believe the eBay issue shown in the screenshot is because you're seeing two different page designs. eBay often tests new page designs and layouts on a small number of users, and it looks like they've put you in a test when you use Camino. If you delete your eBay cookies, that should remove you from the test and the page will then change to match the one that Firefox displays.
I have since tried the "Trouble shoot Camino" option which was suggested in the forum. That gave me a complete clean plate with Camino, no cookies or anything, but that brand new Camino application rendered exactly the same web page. As I mentioned in the forum - there are at least two other sites, nothing to do with ebay, one was dell.ca and the other AirbNb where I noticed that some fields are missing that other browsers show. It's only noticeable if it's a field one absolutely needs. On Dell it was the final button to submit the order that just wasn't there, on Air bNb it was a drop down menu I had used before to select certain search criteria. I have disabled and enabled many settings on Camino thinking one of them might cause the problem, but have not been able to pin anything down. Any suggestions what I can try to see if I can find the source of the issue?
It's clear from your screenshot that Camino is being served a completely different page than Firefox is. It's not just a rendering issue. Look at the text above the results, for example. Camino shows "32 active listings", whereas Firefox shows "32 results found for LGB". That's not caused by a rendering issue, it happens because eBay (for whatever reason) is serving different pages to the two browsers. As I said, it looks to me as though eBay is serving your Camino browser with a 'test' layout, whereas Firefox is getting the normal layout. Actually, this happens to most eBay users at one time or another, regardless of which browser they use. You can usually revert it by clearing out your cookies (until it happens again).
I agree with you - it sure looks as if I'm getting a different page with Camino even though the URL is the same. But I don't think cookies have anything to do with it - that's why I did that same search with a brand new download of Camino which had no cookies set at all. Your suggestion that ebay is sending "test pages" also doesn't explain the other cases where fields were missing in Camino compared to other browsers. I can probably duplicate the AirbNb situation. OK - I just did with screen shot attached. Camino on left, Safari on right. What I initially noticed was that the search drop down option is missing in Camino since I always use that to sort by price. That was actually there in earlier versions of Camino since I have used that site in the past and I always search by price....and I always use Camino. Something changed on Camino with the last update. Now comparing the two it's also obvious that the whole graphic on top of the page is missing in Camino. This site is www.Airbnb.com As a search I put in Montreal, QC, Canada, should come up as a selection after you type in Montreal Dates were Oct 30th to 31st, 1 guest A search for that should bring up the page.
The AirBnB issue, as noted on the forum, is totally idiotic sniffing on that site's part. There's nothing at all that Camino can do about it; you need to complain to the site. I can't tell from your eBay screenshot whether you're signed into your eBay account in Camino, but you definitely *aren't* in Firefox. The theory in comment 1 is probably correct, but instead of simply cookies, eBay may be tying the testing to your *user account*. Were you signed into your eBay account when you did the test with Troubleshoot Camino? If you were, you need to run the test again, without signing in, and you should also test in Firefox 3.6 *after* signing in. If this does turn out to be an issue with eBay, you need to complain to them, because there is absolutely nothing we can do as Camino developers to change what eBay is serving to their users. There's pretty much no way this can possibly be a Camino bug, so I'm going to resolve it INVALID.

I have already discussed this with both ebay and the Airbnb support staff. You can probably guess what their reply/position is - We tested it with the major browsers, IE, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Our websites works properly with all of them - as far as they are concerned it is clearly a Camino issue. I'm sorry, but taking a position that it can't possibly a Camino issue doesn't help anyone. As I mentioned before, this issue is far more wide-spread than the two examples I provided. Trouble is if it's not an obvious link/button that is missing, one would never know that there is an issue. With my Dell Canada order, when there was no button in Camino to complete the order at the end of the ordering process, I had to go back and redo everything in a different browser. I like Camino and would love to continue to use it, but from a user point of view, if it cannot keep up with the other browsers, that is just not an option.
(In reply to knut from comment #7) > I have already discussed this with both ebay and the Airbnb support staff. > You can probably guess what their reply/position is - > We tested it with the major browsers, IE, Chrome, Firefox and Safari. If they aren't testing with Camino, that means they aren't in a position to know whether it's a Camino issue or not. In the case of AirBnB, it's quite clear that the problem IS on their end; see your forum thread for more on that. > I'm sorry, but taking a position that it can't possibly a Camino issue > doesn't help anyone. As I mentioned before, this issue is far more > wide-spread than the two examples I provided. For you. Not for other people, or we'd be getting a lot of reports like this. We aren't. Now, can you please answer the questions I posed in comment 6?
Sorry - I did the testing with ebay, signed in and not signed in, just forgot to post the results. The page Camino brings up is the same in both, the option to save that search is missing in both cases, tried it with Chrome and the "save" option does show up. Have a screen shot of all three side by side - need to figure out how to post that since all the attachments seem to end up at the front of this thread. But there is an even more interesting scenario I just came across. Was travelling and used my laptop which I hadn't used for quite a while. Decided to check out the Airbnb issue on it because In was absolutely sure the problem I'm seeing with Camino now was never there in the past. Sure enought, the lap top still had Camino 2.0.3 loaded and the Airbnb site came up fine including the drop down menu that everyone thinks is not coming up because of an Airbnb website sniffing issue. So the site worked fine with Camino 2.0.3 but doesn't with Camino 2.1.2 - that is checking them now within minutes of each other. That to me points the finger back at Camino. But wait, there is more...lol I went and downloaded Camino 2.0.3 to my desktop - into a different Apps folder so it wouldn't try to overwrite the existing version. Tried the airbnb site again and now the problem is back! So this now sounds as if the issue could be caused by a user setting but so far all the user setings on the Laptop and the desktop with Camino 2.0.3 are the same. I'm also running the same Mac OS on both - 10.6.8 I'm sure at the end of all this there is a logical explanation but right now it's a bit of a mystery. While I was typing this, I decided it might be a good idea to check out the ebay page on the laptop with Camino 2.0.3 Interestingly, the rendering with Camino is quite different than with Chrome as to where the ebay logo is located and the text around it. However the "save search" option does show up with Camino 2.0.3 - just not in the same place as with Chrome; on Camino 2.1.3 that option does not show at all. Any suggestions where to go from here? To me all this still points to a problem with the latest update of Camino.
Correction: The current issue of Camino that I'm using is 2.1.2 not 2.1.3 as I stated with the screen shot.
