We need to enable the localization of SUMO in Occitan [oc]. We've had this localization in the pre-fx4 days, so there might be pre-existing state.

Cedric, this is one of the better places to get the community to help out directly. If it makes more sense to redirect to another language, though, we can also do that.

And, Cedric, we'd need "Occitan" in Occitan again to set this up, please add that here, utf-8 encoded. Thanks.

Once we have a decision what to do, and possibly the description, this bug will be fixed by Mozilla staff.

"Occitan" is "Occitan" in occitan.
I don't know where i can find (o translate) UTF8...

UTF-8 is an encoding for non-ascii strings, usually just works in the browser. In your case, you're set, as the string is all ascii anyway.

Occitan is already enabled on SUMO (see bug 454170 and https://localize.mozilla.org/oc/sumo/) and has been redirected to French instead of showing English articles (see bug 667204 for reasons).
If there's an active locale leader ready to localize 300 KB articles or at least top 20 articles (see https://support.mozilla.org/oc/localization), the redirect can be canceled.
Note that English is the only fallback locale in case you'd want a mix of Occitan articles, for localized ones, and French ones.

Cool :) Cédric, my concern is that if we activate the Occitan locale on SUMO but we don't translate the articles in Occitan, the User Interface will indeed be in Occitan, but the support articles will be in English. I think it is better to have the support articles in French as we do now because Occitan users are French speakers too but not English speakers.

Where can I translate support articles ? Like that, maybe, one day, everything will be in occitan !

On Mozilla Verbatim, I only can make suggestions ; Can you give me the rights to validate the translations?

SUMO is a wiki, the translation is done directly on the site. I am not a user of Verbatim, but I think I can give you rights there as locale leader, I'll check that later today :)

You can't translate support articles in Occitan as long as there is the redirection.

No, as I mentionned higher up, SUMO is a wiki (and generally speaking, Mozilla is marginally using .po as a translation file format).

Thanks everyone for the explanations. I assume I can close this bug. Cedric, if at anytime you decide to localize support articles into occidan, we can reopen. But seeing as that would require a big commitment, it might be better to improve the French articles instead.
