Firefox 18.0a2 (2012-10-11) Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab OS: Android 3.1 Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to news.google.com and tap on any news from the list 2. Add the page to Reading List by tapping on Menu > Reading List 3. Tap on URL Bar for Awesomebar to appear. 4 Check the History section if the page added to Reading List at step 2 is listed and if the Reader icon is displayed in line. Expected result: The Reader icon is displayed on the right side of the screen for the added page at step 2. Actual result: There is no reader icon displayed for the added page.
Ian, is that the expected behavior?
There is no icon in Bookmarks -> Reading List too (fwiw)

Found this old bug ... looks like this is by design in the current model (pre-new-about-home) http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/mobile/android/base/awesomebar/HistoryTab.java#206
