JPEG and GIF images that appear in the browser are garbled the first time they render. This only happens to images you can see on the page as they render. If the images are not viewable as they render (such as far down on the page where you have to scroll down to see them), they will look fine when you view them. Further, if you have a page with garbled images, you can correct them by scrolling the page until they are no longer visible and then scrolling back. I can reproduce this easily on different version of Linux with Mozilla 0.9. To see the effect on the URL given above, you'll need to scroll down the page to where the images are BEFORE they have finished rendering the first time.
