To see the issue, open a pdf, open the Find bar (ctrl-f), search for a word, press next so it gets highlighted. If you close the Find bar, the word is still highlighted, and will remain so until you open the bar again and erase the search term. If you erase the search term in another tab, you have to write a new search term to make the highlighting go away. The way it works in the rest of Firefox is that upon closing the find bar, the highlighted word is instead selected.

Confirmed as still present in Firefox 58.0.2. Happens regardless of whether Highlight All is on or off. Suggest changing the title to "Highlighting from Find with a PDF remains after closing Find bar"
