If I switch over to the alt-3pane, it shows a truckload of different columns I had hidden back when I used the "normal" 3-pane.

changes you make to alt 3 pane will not affect the normal 3 pane (and vice versa) as you know, we persist things in localstore.rdf. the same element is not the same between the two layouts. "chrome://messenger/content/messenger.xul#threadpane-splitter" "chrome://messenger/content/mail3PaneWindowVertLayout.xul#threadpane-splitter" no plans to fix this.
Target Milestone: --- → Future
This shd be fixed as part of the fix for 44669. Wait, you will see it only in mozilla tgh. Not checked in to commercial yet.
I believe this may have been fixed for a while now? 1: Started mailnews changing to alternate 3-pane, not having used it before -it displayed all possible columns. 2: Removed the columns i didn't want 3: Closed and reopened mailnews: Only columns i wished to display now displayed. 4: Changed back to normal 3-pane layout: -only columns i had formerly chosed to display there, displayed. 5: Changed back to alternate 3-pane. Closed and restarted mailnews: -only columns i had settled for in "2:" now displayed. Settings are in other words remembered. WFM, linux.
ahh i misunderstand this bug: it's about alternate 3-pane not inheriting the column selections from normal 3-pane - my bad. Even so - WFM. I may not want the two layouts to display exactly the same columns. That they remember settings "individually" is fine with me..

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state. Query tag for this change: mass-UNCONFIRM-20090614

MASS-CHANGE: This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago. Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED. If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
