Hi. The "Auto detect proxy settings for this network" option does not work on Mac OS X. From my observations it seems that FF doesn't spawn the WPAD detect via DNS process. There are no queries for anything with "wpad" in the name sent at all. The result is that FF tries to go directly and it fails if the outbound HTTP(S) traffic is filtered, like's the case with many corporation networks or mine home office. If I fill the "Automatic proxy configuration url" with the url to the wpad.dat file everything's fine and FF downloads the file, executes it and uses the proxy. I've tried the current FF stable and the recent Nightly with same results. No troubles have been found on Windows. Didn't test Linux, tell me if you want me to. Should any additional information be needed, I'm here or on email or IRC (michal`).
worth nothing that this isn't a regression from recent proxy work. (reported against ff16)
