Steps to reproduce:

I have used Sunbird in Archlinux for several years, and rely on it for my appointments, notes, many things which I need to remember.




Actual results:

Suddenly Mozilla decided to continue only the plugin part of the program, to be integrated to Thunderbird. But I don't use Thunderbird, and I don't want to. I am using Sylpheed mail client, which is the type of mail client I need : lightweight and does just what I want from a mail client and not more. 




Expected results:

Mozilla should have launched a general poll about the use of Sunbird, and different types of developments it could benefit from. (standalone as the one I use, and other shapes, shared calendars, web calendar... )

The reason why Mozilla should do that is that there is ***no*** other open source standalone calendar around ! Let's add to it that this one is practical, has all the features needed in just one window with the right menus at the right place, for this reason only there is no need to let it rot in a corner.

I would have just liked an additional option for the notifications for appointments, which would be have it custom, but this is another story, indeed, no wish-list can be opened for a program not developed anymore. :-(

I don't understand the purpose of this report. Sunbird development was not stopped suddenly but it was stopped years ago back in 2010 after long discussions. You can continue using the last Sunbird release as long as you like but there are no new releases planned.

As our time machine implementation is still broken, "You should have done this or that" reports are not very helpful.
Closing as WONTFIX - anybody is free to pick up the code and restart development, really.

Hi,

The purpose of this bug report is to make one, for no one has done a related bug report. In 2010 you say ? I have realized only when the last beta (which I use each day) has been out. I have seen some people have entered comments on the mozilla blog in november 2010, but comments are something different, and anyway the comments now are closed:

I have no coding knowledge, so I will not get the sources and fork it. I can just hope someone having the knowledge and the means will be interested to do so in the future, eventually before the program stops working.

Hi Mélodie, this report is RESOLVED as WONTFIX (short for: "Will not fix this") as Mozilla developers will not work on this, but anybody is free to make one or pick up the code and change it. A bug report here won't change or influence that situation. :)
