STR: 1. Place a phone call. (Preferably to an automated system, like the MoCo office phone, so you don't bother anyone) 2. While the phone is ringing, press the microphone button on the screen, to test when the UI is responsive. (It'll change colors on being pressed, when it's responsive) ACTUAL RESULTS: * While phone is ringing: - Display says "Calling..." - Microphone button works * When recipient picks up: - Display *still* says "Calling..." <------- BUG - Microphone button stops responding <------- BUG * After 5 seconds elapse: - Display changes from "Calling..." to call-timer (Which begins at "00:05") - Microphone button starts working again. EXPECTED RESULTS: When the recipient picks up, the Display should *immediately* reflect that the call has connected, and the buttons should remain responsive. The screen-lockup-period always seems to take 5 seconds (judging by the call timer's value, when the timer appears). I don't know if that duration is hard-coded anywhere or something...
(In reply to Daniel Holbert [:dholbert] from comment #0) > 2. While the phone is ringing, press the microphone button on the screen, > to test when the UI is responsive. (It'll change colors on being pressed, > when it's responsive) To clarify: I meant to say "... _repeatedly_ press the microphone button on the screen". (to test when the UI is & isn't responsive) The microphone button isn't special -- you can do this with the speakerphone button, too, if you like -- it's just noisier. :)
We couldn't come up with a use case where this would be more than a minor annoyance. Therefore, bb-.

This has been a huge annoyance for me trying to make phone calls while dogfooding, especially when combined with bug 804915. (Can't perform that bug's workaround steps while this bug is hanging the UI. So that means the person on the other end hears silence for the first 5 seconds of all of my placed & received phone calls, meanwhile on my end I'm waiting for the screen to become responsive so I can hit 'speakerphone' twice to make the audio work.)
Awesome, this has become WORKSFORME in the 2012-11-01 stable release that was just shipped. (datestamp 2012-11-01 09:44:34)
