User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Build ID: 20121024073032 Steps to reproduce: Started typing a word. Partway through hit the [Backspace] button to correct an error, then finished typing the word correctly. Followed this word with [space] and another word. - For example: typed the word "excellent" - Hit the backspace key to delete the last three letters, now appears as "excell" - Re-typed the last three letters, so word now reads "excellent" - Completed the sentence, now reads something like "excellent wine" Actual results: Spellcheck underlined in red only the part of the word typed after hitting [backspace], as if this portion of the word was being interpreted as a stand-alone misspelled word. Right-clicking on that half of the word gave suggestions for how to correct only that group of letters that had been typed after the [backspace] key was hit. If the correction is selected, it's appended to the start of the word, making a truly misspelled word. Using the example above: - The word appears as "excellent" with spellcheck's red squiggly underline only underneath the last 3 letters, "ent" - Right-clicking on that part of the word gives suggestions for how to correctly spell "ent," e.g. "net," "sent," "rent" etc. - Choosing one of these suggested corrections appends that word onto the start of the original word creating a new non-word, which is itself flagged as a misspelled word, e.g. "excellnet" Expected results: Spellcheck should recognize the entire word as spelled correctly.
This sounds like a duplicate of bug 790475.

This is fixed in 17b2 , can you give it a try and make sure we fixed all the cases ? (see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel to get the beta)

I would be happy to download beta, but just want to double check that all of my current emails and folders will transfer over correctly, the same way they would with a standard version update...?
