Currently, the "Learn More" button that explains what we do with performance data opens up the web browser. This should open up a local page since this text isn't going to change very much, and it makes the behavior consistent with that of the "Learn More" button for the "Send Crash Report" pref.

Tom, I believe you might be responsible for the text for this message too :)

See pg. 8 of the crash report spec for more info on what this link looks like.
Not a blocker at this point. Something we could consider doing soon, but we'll rapidly run into l10n hurdles.

Right now the "Learn More" links just open https://www.mozilla.org, so if we're not going to make a separate page, at the very least we should come up with a better URL to direct the user to.
Where would the page be hosted? SUMO? I don't know where we would put it that makes sense.

For mobile (and probably desktop?), we use a SUMO url, yes:
http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/mobile/android/chrome/content/browser.js#7093

which directs to:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-can-i-help-submitting-mobile-performance-data
Component: Gaia → Gaia::Settings
I actually prefer having a link to the SUMO page. It means that we can move info from SUMO to the privacy notice or back without having to wait for releases.

Okay, so we should come up with a SUMO url to link to. If we just have a generic link that will redirect to the correct locale, we can just replace the hard-coded URL in the HTML without worrying about l10n issues.
Re-noming this with a better summary of the problem. If we can just update the current hard-coded URL in the HTML, this won't affect string freeze.

Summary: "Learn More" in "Share Performance Data" setting should open up a local page, not a webpage → "Learn More" in "Share Performance Data" setting just goes to https://www.mozilla.org

a SUMO page is fine with me if Tom's fine with it. Who is coming up with the URL?

Michelle is on vacation this week, so I'm cc'ing Ibai to see if he knows what URL we should use. We basically just need a Firefox OS version of this Firefox for mobile kb article:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-can-i-help-submitting-mobile-performance-data
We should point to that URL and we will update the article to cover the Firefox OS piece.
Kazé, I hope you don't mind me stealing this :)

I just pointed the link to https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-can-i-help-submitting-mobile-performance-data, which redirects to the locale-specific page based on the locale of the browser.
