Steps to reproduce:

start firefox


Actual results:

crashes on startup. will open in safe mode, though. Will not launch successfully in standard mode, even with all add-ons and plugins disables and with a blank start page. Always:

It's a driver crash. You should disable HW acceleration (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration)
Can you provide the Graphics section of the about:support page?

Disabling HW acceleration did solve this bug. 16.02 now runs without crashing on this Mac.
