alt 3 pane: settings are not remembered

In MailNews I move the dividing bar between the folder/newsgroup pane. This
location is not remembered between sessions. Also, I turn off the message pane
via the View menu and this is not remembered between sessions. Finally, it
takes selecting View->Message twice to turn the message pane off.

I see this a lot in the Better Three Pane Window (or alt for the uneducated).
Confirming. Lately, it seems like everytime I start up, the splitter between
the folders and the message list has been moving gradually to the left, slowly
covering up the folders.

the original bug report covers two problems.
Summary: Window settings are not rememberes → alt 3 pane: settings are not remembered
I am using this configuration:
+++++++

Also, I am not seeing the problem described by kerz@netscape.com The splitter
evenly divides the MailNews window for messages and folders. I move it to the
left to give more room to messages. It is this change that is not remembered.
