Steps to reproduce:

Verified Pop & SMTP settings and password are correct.  Keeps getting as far as connecting to pop3, then nothing.  


Actual results:

No error messages on screen, no messages sent or received.
Can you check your anti-virus and firewall software ?

I don't believe the settings on them have changed in quite a while, but I could try to check them.
Yes but Thunderbird changed whilst you upgraded and they might now block it.

I turned both off and still cannot send or receive email

Do you still see this in version 17 or newer? 
If not, please close by setting status to resolved, and resolution to worksforme.
If it fails, please supply additional information.
