panning microjs.com, you can see the tiled rendering quite noticeably, which looks a bit bad.
A regression-range would help here.
This is caused by progressive drawing and is a design choice. This page is just insanely slow to draw so the tiles are very slow to come in. Without progressive paint the screen remains black for multiple seconds. I don't think there's much we can do here, turning off progressive painting makes this website worse.
Can we profile the page to see why it's so insanely slow to draw?
I see what Ehsan is describing on all the time on my Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.2. Particularly bad on "CNN.com", when I load the page and then immediately zoom in to look at the story list on the left-hand side. The site seems to load just fine at first but then I see the page very slowly, tile by tile, just shifting it down about 25 pixels. This can take up to 10 seconds, which is painful because it seems to mess with my ability to click on links.
This is different issue than microjs.com which we can't render on time because of the complexity. We -should- be able to render CNN in a timeline manner but don't.
Chris can you see if we regressed tiling performance on android cnn?

Going on the other comments in this thread, I'm not sure what I should be looking at. If this is exacerbated by general progressive tile update errors, kats and co will be looking at these in the next couple of weeks. If painting this page just takes a long time with progressive rendering off, I'm not sure what we can do here, on that side of things. I'll be on PTO, so please needinfo me today if there's any information I can quickly provide here.
