User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Build ID: 20121024073032 Steps to reproduce: Working with windows. Actual results: Firefox window lost focus or window was pushed to background or screensaver was on. System is WinXP Sp3. Two Monitors. Happens on 6 out of 7 computers here. Different systems, different graphic cards. Firefox with plugins, and also completely without. I first thought this is a feature of v14. Since that version I know the effect. I'm now on the latest v16.0.2 but still the same black window. When you scroll the window contents everything reappears again. Expected results: Well, no black window, I suppose?
Please don't move bug into general as this component is nearly always wrong. Leave them in untriaged, thanks. Does it work if you disable the hardware acceleration under options/advanced/general (followed by a Firefox restart) ? In case that helps, can you please post the graphic section (not everything) from about:support of one affected system ?
Component: General → Untriaged
Could you please try the following : 1) try this with a clean profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles 2) running in Safe mode: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Tried both options many timesß. The effect appears to be of a rather random nature occuring on different PCs. Up to the leatest FF version our complete team knows the effect but sometimes you simply don't see it for weeks and then out of thin air the FF window suddenly is black until you move the window in some way. Like it has it's own screensaver.
Can you try to update your GPU driver and also your Flash version? After this and with the latest Firefox released version, 19.0.2, can you still reproduce the issue?
