I'm - or at least used to be - behind a fire wall. So I had the whole proxy
thing set up to get to the real world. I had neglected to set up SSL though and
when I attempted to browse to a "https" web site, mozilla hung.
Now it turns out that our network has changed and that I no longer even need the
proxy. So perhaps there's a blocking call waiting for a response from a
non-existant proxy?
qa to me.
Is SSL proxy set on or off?
Either way, there could be some problem with error handling (SSL proxy is on but
proxy is not there, or HTTPS is firewalled, but you don't error correctly).

scott@dattalo.com - could you pop back over here and give us some more info?
Thanks :-)
Gerv
It seems that the gateway config might be involved.
From scott@dattalo.com via email:
I cannot duplicate the error.
My current build is the 9.1 release for Linux - with the debugging stuff built
in. The problem I was experiencing occurred with 9.1 for Linux minus the
debugging code.
Here's a description of what I did experience. Our internet access changed from
a proxy to a direct connection. The gate IP also changed. What I had done was
changed from proxy to direct internet connection without first changing the
gateway. This cause mozilla to crash at startup.
I went back and carefully recreated the enviroment under which this bug first
appeared, and was able to recreate it. Then I download 0.9.2 and discovered that
the problem has been fixed. I'd suggest changing the status from unconfirmed to
fixed.
