Details
(Keywords: crash)
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/23.0.1271.64 Safari/537.11
Steps to reproduce:
Tired opening a Firefox 16.0.2 window
Actual results:
Window opened, turned white and then closed. The crash report window opened and I have submitted a few reports. Prior to this happening, the Flash player plugin crashed. I disabled the plugin and tried to restart the browser and that's when the issue began.
Expected results:
Window should have opened with no issues. I use the same version of Firefox on my work computer and haven't had any issues.

Are your plugins up-to-date (go to https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ for the popular ones)?
Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode)?
Can you provide the crash ID (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash)?

As far as I can tell, all of my plugins are up to date. I don't have a Firefox Safe Mode on my computer and I rolled back to Firefox 14 to see if it crashes.

Oddly I had something similar yesterday on every version of Firefox/Fennec I was running on my Android tabled. Disabling Sync and then reconfiguring it "fixed" the issue. I wonder if this is the same.

I reinstalled Firefox and Sync is diabled, but I still had the same issue. Firefox 14 seems to be working okay for now.

So it's probably a fake Firefox. Download and install it from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ and report back.

We don't add an additional "Firefox (Safe-Mode)" entry in the start menu anymore. I'm not sure if the reporter meant this entry.
Just hold the shift key while clicking in the Firefox icon/link to start in the safemode.

I opened Firefox in Safe-Mode and selected disable all add-ons and then clicked Make Changes and Restart. So far it seems to be working okay. I don't recall having issues with any other plugins, add-ons, etc. I'm going to try re-enabling add-ons on at a time and see what happens.

I now have all of my add-ons enabled except for Flash player and so far Firefox seems to be working the way it should be. I do have the latest version of Flash installed and as I mentioned earlier I have the same version installed on Firefox 16 on my work computer and that is working fine. Not sure what happened on my personal computer.

As plugins are not disabled in Safe Mode, it's caused either by HW acceleration or by one of your extensions or themes. Try to find the cause: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems

I turned off HW acceleration and re-enabled the flash plugin, but the flash plugin crashed again. I have also updated back to 16.0.2

I checked and I have the latest version. The plug-in started to work again. I'm going to keep an eye on it and will update if anything else happens.
