Description

Now that bug 803007 is fixed, we have http://planet.mozilla.org/thunderbird/

Please can we get planet.mozillamessaging.com taken down and replaced by a redirect to planet.mozilla.org/thunderbird.
Can the redirect be handled on the planet.mozilla.org side of things? Otherwise, it means we have to keep something running at planet.momo.com forever, handing out just a redirect.
Clarifying:

I'd like to just have to update DNS for planet.momo.com to be a CNAME to planet.mozilla.org. You can then handle the redirects on that side any way you want.

I'm happy for this to be done in whatever way we feel is best. Taking down the planet.momo.com server completely is fine, as long as planet.mozilla.org can handle this.

Both sites are currently running, I'll be doing an announcement in a bit, but it'd be good to get the old server redirected reasonably soon.
Redirect in place on planet.momo.com

:sancus, can the redirect also be implemented on planet.mozilla.org side, so I can shutdown the actual webserver on planet.momo.com and update DNS?

I suspect Reed might be able to help with this.

I assume you mean add a vhost for planet.mozillamessaging.com with redirect/rewrite rule that points to http://planet.mozilla.org/thunderbird/? If so, that's something webops can handle. I have no control over that. They will also be able to provide you with the appropriate CNAME or A record so that DNS can be updated.

:gozer - planet.mozillamessaging.com is a CNAME to live.mozillamessaging.com. it looks like live lives in labs? do you want to handle the redirect there?

Yes, it's currently in labs. planet.mozillamessaging.com currently redirects to planet.mozilla.org/thunderbird/

However, I'd like to be able to just CNAME planet.mozillamessaging.com to something moco webops runs so I can turn off the VM behind planet.momo.com.

:gozer - sounds good to me. i have updated planet to point to our static web cluster where there is a permanent redirect to planet.mozilla.org/thunderbird/ as requested.

Excellent, I'll tear down the planet.momo.com infrastructure in labs.
