User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Build ID: 20121024073032 Steps to reproduce: 1. I installed PDF Viewer 0.6.39 ADD-ON from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pdfjs/ 2. This plugin works fine for some documents, but for others it makes Firefox hang (Firefox not responding). 3. I tried to find and terminate process plugin-container.exe so I do not need to terminate firefox. 4. I used Windows process explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653) to find the process and terminate it. Actual results: when firefox hang due to this add-on, I could not terminate the process 'plugin-container.exe', using 'Windows process explorer' (access denied). Expected results: 'plugin-container.exe' should easily be terminated as in other cases that are not related to the above add-on.
plugin-container.exe is for plugins (Java, Flash, etc ..) not for add-ons.
So, how can I stop the ADDON when firefox hangs, without the need to terminate firefox by killing its process?
The answer: You can't
Please file bugs for pdfs.js in case you encounter a pdf that hangs the browser. This report is invalid because pdfs.js is an extension and no plugin.
