Steps to reproduce:

I typed something in Find bar, saw found result while typing.
Then I pressed Enter


Actual results:

Firefox acted as nothing was Found.
Search string turned red.


Expected results:

Just keep showing what it did before I pressed Enter

Can you provide the specific page you see this on?

Does it reproduce with other pages as well?

Take any not-familiar-to-Firefox-XML file you can reach over http

Hi,

I have tested your issue on the latest Firefox release(43.0.4) and the latest Nightly(46.0a1) on http://www.w3schools.com/xml/note.xml and the find bar performs correctly when searching for strings or symbols. This could be related to how the website was implemented.

Can you please try to reproduce this on the latest release(43.0.4) and latest Nightly (https://nightly.mozilla.org) and provide the results? When doing this, please try to reproduce with a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even in safe mode, as some of this issues may be caused by third party installed add-ons or custom settings(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems).
