Every time I open the browser, a welcome to Firefox tab appears with a tab for my homepage. Under the tab options, I uncheck the 1st box, but it shows the box is checked when I reopen the browser.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0; SlimBrowser/6.01.085)
Steps to reproduce:
After I installed the latest version 17, the welcome to firefox tab appears with my homepage when I open the browser. I click on the X to close the tab & go under the tab options to remove the check from the 1st box to open window in new tab.
Actual results:
When I close the browser & reopen it, the tab keeps appearing & the 1st option under the tab list is checked again. I uncheck it, close the browser, reopen it & the tab keeps reappearing & the option is checked again.
Expected results:
The browser should open up to my homepage with no other tab window.

I am still having the problem of the Firefox welcome tab page (Hooray! Your Firefox is up to date) load with the homepage. This tab popped up after I updated to version 17. It also checks the tab option box open the window in a new tab after I remove the check & close the browser. I open the browser & the box is still checked.

I've tried updating Nightly first, and then trying to reproduce the issue, but I couldn't.

If someone else is able to reproduce this, please reopen the issue.

Sounds very much like what was happening when my old XP machine caught the russian "time-to-read" browser-hijacker, a few months back; regedited and AV'd it away (almost) but still get the hijack-version whenever I open a new tab.

What info do you need from me?
The issue originally reported here sounds like Firefox couldn't write data to the user profile, so preferences would get lost and revert back to default on every shutdown and restart.
