Hi guys,

Here is how to reproduce:

1. Load Firefox up locally on Windows 8 desktop, checking bugzilla before work
2. head to work, leaving FF open
3. Get to work, log into home PC and find Firefox has lost its close and maximise buttons.

I can reproduce this quite regularly, and I also do this in reverse, RDP into my work Windows 7 PC when I get home which doesn't have this symptom - must be Windows 8 related.
Component: Theme → Widget: Win32
Product: Firefox → Core
This also might happen on Server 2012 - which could be worrying as some companies might use FF with terminal servers in the very near future.

I'll test it when I get to work and see.
Can confirm seeing the same when logging in via RDP.

A lot of things go wrong after an RDP session. I've noticed that text aliasing turns off as well.

Hi, I am Naj. I am currently studying an open source module at Coventry University and I would like to have this first simple bug assigned to me please.

Thanks

Hi Naj, you're welcome to start working on this bug immediately! The bug will be assigned to you when you have written and attached a patch or there is other evidence that you're making progress.

Thanks for wanting to help out!
Hi there,

I would also be interested in this as my first bug. I've had a look around the code, but would you be able to point me in the right direction?

Regards,
Stuart.

here are some steps to follow:

1) you'll need two computers or a computer and a vm, since this is an remove desktop bug.
2) start by trying to reproduce the problem easily. If you're lucky it's reliably reproducible by rdp'ing into a machine running latest firefox.
3) on the machine you rdp to, get a local build going so you can test code changes.

That's a good starting point.

I've attempted to reproduce the issue various times with RDP and a Windows 8 machine but with no success. Do we know that this bug still exists?

Regards,
Stuart.
