User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20121119183901 Steps to reproduce: firefox 17.0; ubuntu linux 11.10; toshiba satellite laptop ia64 (also occurs on ibm/lenovo thinkpad w510 ia64). - firefox is open, 1 or more tabs active - problem may occur when i am in the workspace interacting with firefox, or in another workspace using other applications Actual results: system hang/freeze. mouse/keyboard are unresponsive and i must power down and restart to recover. when i restart and go back into firefox, a new tab is open notifying me of a noscript addon update. this has happened for quite some time over numerous versions of firefox, probably back as far as v10 as best i can remember. i contacted the noscript developer, giorgio maone, and he suggested a bugzilla report against the addon manager. Expected results: system should not hang because of an addon update.
The whole system hangs, only X or Firefox ? In case X hangs you have to report it the X developers and if the system hangs you should report if to the distribution. You are at the right place if only Firefox freezes. valid for X: http://timeless.justdave.net/blog/143/
Robin, can you please answer comment 1?
response to comment 1: the whole system hangs.
Mass-closing old Extension Compatibility bugs that relate to legacy add-ons or NPAPI plug-ins. If you think this bug is still valid, please reopen or comment. Sorry for the bug spam, and happy Friday!
