User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0
Build ID: 20121119183901

Steps to reproduce:

After I upgraded to Firefox 17, I logged into my website as an editor and opened a page for editing.

Actual results:

The page to be edited came up as source code.

Expected results:

It should have come up in the WYSIWYG editor like it did for previous versions of Firefox.
That is very likely a bug in your website.

What happens if you open about:config, confirm the warning, right click in the content and select new-> string
Name: "general.useragent.override"
Value: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/2012091204 Firefox/17.0"
(both without the quotes)

Restart Firefox and try it again.
Important: Don't forget to reset the newly created entry in about:config !

That worked. What did you mean by "reset the newly created entry in about:config"?
I gave only the instructions to test if the User Agent change in Firefox 17 caused this issue.
This is of course a workaround for you but it will cause issues with pages in the future long after you forgot that you added this pref.
Every future Firefox release will report itself as Firefox17 to the webserver.
So, please don't forget to remove the added option in about:config.

It seems that the Mozilla lead has decided to revert the change in the Useragent string in the next Firefox release and it should work without my workaround.

Ever confirmed: true
Reporter:
Please remove the change from comment#1 and update Firefox to version 17.0.1 (help/about Firefox triggers the update) and it should be fixed.

Can you confirm this ?
I removed the about:config change and updated to Firefox 17.0.1. The problem no longer exists with Firefox 17.0.1.

Thanks.
