Details
User Agent: Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1; Edition Next) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.10
Steps to reproduce:
OS: WinXp Sp3
Plugin: adobe reader/adobe arcobat plugin (open pdf file in browser)
Firefox version: 16.02, 17esr
Goto the following url:
http://www.oci.gov.hk/press/index_02.html
and click the newletter 35,36,37 or 38 to view the pdf file within firefox browser.
The problem occurred in other url as well and a sample site is listed:
http://www.hkcii.org/yearbook.htm
and click any yearbook listed.
For the website www.oci.gov.hk, I am one of the webmaster and I am sure that there is nothing wrong with those pdf files. The same test was performed on IE6SP3 and Opera (latest version) and similar problem was not occurred in those browsers.
Actual results:
Sometimes, it can open the pdf file successfully. Sometimes, it return a blank page (through reload or revisit the same download. Besides, the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Local Settings\Temp\plugtmp show the same downloaded pdf with different size). Sometimes, it prompted corrupted pdf or show error due to the corrupted pdf downloaded. Something, it show the pdf file and then show a download in progress but eventually return corrupted file.
if using save file or launch external pdf reader, the downloaded pdf file open successfully.
The same download was tried in opera 12.02 browser and open file within browser for over a hundred of time, no problem was encountered. I understand both browsers (opera and firefox) are using the same plugin dll file. It seems the problem is not related to plugin itself, the problem seems related to the interface/configuration from brwoser to plugin.
Expected results:
Open the pdf file within the firefox browser.

When googled the same issue, this issue remain unknown for a couple of years and most users used save file or launched external pdf reader to open the pdf file. In FF17esr, change flag to enable pdfdb can view the pdf file but it is found that the product is not so mature as some picture/graphic are missing when viewing the pdf file.
What's the version of the Acrobat Reader plugin used? (type about:plugins in location bar)
