Inconsistent interaction between quick settings buttons. For example, clicking "blue tooth" button toggles between active/inactive state but clicking the "settings" icon on the far right opens up the settings menu. When clicking from the inactive state to the active state on the wifi button, the wifi settings menu opens up--no other button does this. Also, though the wifi, blue tooth, and settings icons were familiar to me the up/down arrow (download?) and leaf icons were not.

UX peeps, what's the current state of the quick settings area? Is this bug still valid?

I'm flagging Harly, Mike and Neo on this, so they can let us know the latest on Settings and also any Building Blocks efforts that may affect this.

Hi Stephany, This feature is "Notification", is it owned by Rob(ux spec) and Patryk (Visual spec). So I need info them on this bug. Thanks. Mike

Just some suggestions: 1. Settings button could be dealt with using visual design to separate it with the rest of the quick settings 2. For consistency, it is either having all toggles in quick settings(like iPhone), or having all quick settings as shortcuts that goes to settings(like Android) 3. Neo's Sony phone has a hybrid solution (please see the image attached), which all buttons in quick settings are toggles, and when turning on Wifi, the system will display a notification if no connected Wifi is available, and tapping the notification will go to Wifi settings

Thanks Mike and Harly - appreciate it! :)

We would likely address this in the pull down tray for v.1.4. I believe Przemek is working on that.

Hi Francis, would we be adding this into the new system tray for 1.4?

Yes, we'll cover this in the Systems tray for 1.4 - I'll keep myself as Need info.

These issues have been resolved as far as I can tell. All the buttons on the quick settings are toggles, with the exception of the settings icon, which opens the settings app. However, this is visually differentiated from the other items. i.e., it is white, not grey/blue. The wifi button now just acts as a toggle, and the Leaf and Up/Down arrows that Maureen mentioned are no longer around. So I think we can close this, but we'll definitely keep these considerations in mind as we move the quick settings to the setting drawer.

The settings button, currently, is indistinguishable from the other icons, stylistically. Do we have a design to differentiate it from the others?

Been a week, passing the needinfo on to Tiffanie (sorry :)) - see comment #10.

Sorry for the slow reply :) I'm flagging Eric as this is a visual issue. Eric, what do you think? I think I can live with the solution as it is, but we may want to give the Settings icon a different visual treatment since it behaves differently from the other toggle buttons. Perhaps giving the icon a circular background to make it appear more app like?

Perhaps giving the icon a circular background to > make it appear more app like? I'm thinking we should make all inactive icons 30% white while the settings icon always stays 100%. This will keep the settings icon consistent with other action icons in apps. I don't want to do anything to heavy since it's a really crowded screen already. Thanks!
