Steps to reproduce:

Setting: mark mail as read upon display, rss feeds show as full HTML

In Firefox 16, when users skim the rss feeds header by pressing key "N" repetitively, message will be loaded as full HTML. All messages "passed by" will be marked as read immediately.


Actual results:

In Firefox 18 (in fact, since Firefox 17), when the same action is performed, not all messages are marked as read immediately. Instead, few seconds are needed before the message status is updated. Also, message are loaded with feed summary instead of full HTML.


Expected results:

Message are updated to read responsively. Full HTML should be loaded according to setting.

Another regression since TB 17: bug 814538, where feed articles are displayed as web pages when the summary is configured.

tested with TB 17.0.5 and 21.0 beta just now, and the behaviour is still the same.
it is so frustrating that user experience is changed immediately before Mozilla stopped the development. and no one is following up the issues now. I guess I'm stuck with TB 16.0.2 if not switching to other mail clients :(

this is almost certainly fixed as a side benefit of bug 813725, in Tb23.
