Details

I recently installed Google's plugin that is required to do video-calls on gmail/google hangout. It actually installed two plugins:

Google Talk NPAPI Plugin 3.10.2.10212
Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator 0.1.44.23

And now I noticed that by simply opening Gmail in a tab, my laptop switches to the discrete NVIDIA gpu graphics, which is killing its battery life.
Disabling the latter plugin, even if I leave the former enabled, is enough to not trigger the bug. Closing Gmail also makes it switch back to the integrated gpu.

fwiw: 15" retina macbook pro, with osx 10.8

(Sorry if this is ultimately not the right component but I figured that graphics folks might be interested in seeing/diagnosing it)
