We should probably fire some events to web pages before doing double tap zoom. The are two that would fire on desktop. A click event with its detail property set to 2, and a dblclick event. I'm guessing that firing the click event will cause bustage in cases where pages don't bother to check the detail. Firing the dblclick will likely not affect much.

That gives the pages a chance to respond and do something, or just disable the zoom, and it should bring better parity with desktop.
What do other mobile browsers do? I am hesitant to fire events when we do a double-tap to zoom. It is likely to cause problems with the zoom if we allow the page to react to a double-click. It could potentially do something to change the page or page content.
