User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20121128204232 Steps to reproduce: Tried to login to Yahoo Xtra (xtra.co.nz mail services are provided by Yahoo) after moving to Cisco Linksys X3000 router, updated with latest firmware. Sometimes the problem happens when requesting the login page, sometimes just after when the login has been processed. Visually, the page is blank, but it is evident that there are continual requests being sent - see attachment(s). This was on a new system and everything was being set up so difficult to pinpoint what was happening precisely, but established old Thompson router did not have the problem. Actual results: Examined web messages and saw that two GET messages were being sent, one was 200 OK, the other was 302 Redirect. There were no responses (i.e. stuff from Yahoo or anybody else). Examined the error log, saw there was an error - see attached. Looks like there was no guard for the this.docshell being NULL at that point in the code.
The problem of not getting the web pages from Yahoo is also evident in IE8 - possibly a router problem, not sure, but think it might have been working before the firmware upgrade. Could log into gmail and browse a lot of different sites. This is really about reporting the null pointer; I did see plenty of other errors with Firefox code being identified when successfully logging in to Yahoo Xtra.

Could you attach the file with another format, .docx sucks on other OSes (just txt or pdf), thanks. In addition, is xtra.co.nz mail public? Can I create a guest account to test?

Xtra.co.nz is a Yahoo lite for Telecom NZ (an ISP) customers. I have an account you can use, will be sent to you (Loic) personally. Please respect the privacy of this account, and please do not reveal any details in any way. Please let me know when you have finished with the account, and please don't change the settings.
Sorry, forgot to add note. Problem re continual GET and not completing the fetch has been resolved. It was the X3000 modem default factory setting that was resulting in filtering out cookies. For those that want to know - go to the X3000 Security page and in the Filters section, tick Cookies - this is counter intuitive as ticking the filters suggests it is filtering, when it is the converse. Probably worth downgrading this bug (unless null pointers are things you definitely want to handle, I know I would).
So is the issue fixed on your side?
(In reply to Loic from comment #6) > So is the issue fixed on your side? The issue is fixed for me, but as I said in an earlier post, this is about a Firefox null pointer not being handled but being used, discovered in the course of collecting information regarding my particular problem. The information regarding the null pointer is in the replacement attachment. I also noted that successful navigation of a Xtra webmail login reported quite a lot more errors and warnings. I suppose I was expecting someone to take note and check them out, sorry if this is not your concern. How long will you want to use the email account?
(In reply to SharmanJ from comment #7) > How long will you want to use the email account? I didn't use it because I thought it was fixed and I wanted to get your reply before testing. Do you have clear steps to reproduce (STR) to test? Like connecting to the webmail, opening the web console, writing an email etc?
Have the web console, debugger and error console all turned on, then log in. Examine the error reporter - you should see a few errors and warnings that point to Firefox code, not the webpage content. There will be a lot of errors in the Xtra/Yahoo code too.
I'll test with the guest account you emailed me, thanks.
I tried on webmail.xtra.co.nz (which seems to be a standard Yahoo webmail) but I don't see any error related to Firefox code. The tab 'Errors' in the Error Console stays desperately empty, and all the warnings are about Yahoo Mail webpage. So I would think it's more an issue with your local network, firewall or router/modem.
As I have fixed the setup of the router, let's kill this issue then. Sorry to have taken up your time. I take it that you have finished with the email account.
Ok, I close it, feel free to reopen it if the issue is back.
