Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS 5.8 sun4u; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010520
BuildID: 2001052022
When I open a new window using middle-mouse, the status bar
reads "Read about:blank" until the page actually loads. This
is somewhat confusing.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open www.mozilla.org
2. Middle-click on, say, "Newsbot".
Actual Results: "Read about:blank" shows.
Expected Results: Status bar ought to be blank until the page I asked for
gets loaded, or until mozilla has something better to
tell me.

I am still seeing this. It does not look like a dupe to me.

Well, it is. Test again.

Actually, and even though I verified this as a dupe, it's not a dupe. This bug
as described still exists. Open www.mozilla.org and then middle-click on a
link to open it in a new window. "Read about:blank" appears in the status bar
until the page finishes loading. This bug report requests that the "Read
about:blank" not appear at all.
Reopening, for someone to decide whether this is actually a bug or as-designed.

You need a slow target to really see it, it seems. I have a suspicion that
access to www.mozilla.org from your machine is pretty darn fast. Try something
else for which no data comes back until after the initial window has been
completely drawn.

Hrm, I'm wondering if my comments from earlier today were based on an old build.
I can't seem to reproduce this in today's build. Now when I open a new window
I get "Connecting to <hostname>", and I don't remember seeing this before.
Morten, can you reproduce this with a build after Aug 1, when the fix for bug
88200 was checked in?

Ok, I pulled a nightly and the bug is indeed gone. (the last I had was
August 1 which I pulled after bug 88200 was closed. The fix must not
have made it.) Thanks all!
