Following changes, though standardizes the gradient declarations, introduces gradient-line to misbehave from last implementation as well:

According to current spec, there isn't a way to overcome this in a clean way (& restore the previous behavior). However, the change might not be noticeable to human eyes in many cases, and if applied on a square element, the gradient will theoretically be identical to the previous implementation.

This code seems to have gone away entirely, so resolving this WFM.
