Found in 2001052404 build on MacOS9.1-ja. Installer shows part of Japanese character instead of ellipsis (...) on Japanese version of MacOS9.1. This occurs on the Proxy Settings button (screenshot attached) and in the "Extracting installer files..." message. Steps: 1) Download installer build 2) Begin install; click to the page that has the Proxy Settings button. The character appears where the ellipsis should be.
Reassign to firstname.lastname@example.org. Does installer use native Macintosh widget?

nav triage team: Marking nsbeta1+, p3, and mozilla0.9.5, adding jaimejr to cc-list
mass change, switching qa contact from jonrubin to ruixu.
Mass-moving lower-priority 0.9.5 bugs off to 0.9.6 to make way for remaining 0.9.4/eMojo bugs, and MachV planning, performance and feature work. If you disagree with any of these targets, please let me know.
Over to Syd for triage.
nhotta: yes, Mac Toolbox is what is used.
Japanese charset encoding assigns a different character for the code point where ellipsis is assigned in MacRoman. Usually that can be avoided by using three dots ("..."). Or L10N might be able to change the font but the bug is about US build on JA system. cc to email@example.com
This is not only for the button. On the download dialog, all "FROM", "TO", ... fields have the ellipsis when the path is too long. This ellipsis shows garbled on Japanese OS. Those ellipsis are hardcoded, not even localizable. We need to change them to three-dot.
Quoth Steve Dagley: "The Mac installer code was never Carbonized and there is no intention to ever change that." http://groups.google.com/groups?threadm=yahoo_com-77F6E8.09344011022003%40h-204-29-187-156.netscape.com http://groups.google.com/groups?threadm=avkj4k%24ihs2%40ripley.netscape.com
