Details

The new file type icon thing rocks! Let's use it in the file system view as well. No diff yet, but the change is adding this attribute to the treecells in the directory viewer: src="moz-icon:rdf:http://home.netscape.com/NC-rdf#URL" this overrides the default icon with an icon from the system, using the moz-icon protocol thingie. The URL is used to identify file type and is filled by the template builder.
Summary: Directory view should use file-type icon thing. → Directory view should use file-type icon thing.
Interesting, alecf has a patch that does exactly what you say... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 80138 ***
