(1) Reset user data
(2) Add email account
(3) Go to account settings
The default account checkbox is shown but isn't meaningful with one account.

The default account checkbox doesn't actually do anything at all. It's a lie no matter how many accounts you have. That's bug 796719. This does seem like a different thing, so not duping.
